  • In September 2008, Mitsubishi will begin marketing the five-door version of the Lancer, called Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback.

    The Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback version has a length of 4585 mm (four-door measured 15 mm less). Hence, by their size ranges from models like a Skoda Octavia (which is smaller) and a Toyota Avensis (which is bigger).

    For spring 2009, Mitsubishi plans to introduce a new diesel engine 1.8 litre engine capacity (through common injection) which will replace the current 2.0 DI-D with 140 hp Volkswagen (by injection pump injector).

    Transmissions available are three: two manuals, five (1.8 143 hp engine) or six speeds (2.0 DI diesel engine D-140 hp) and an automatic change of fixed drive with six points (for the optional 143 hp engine).
